Friends of Skinner North (FoSN), a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, is Skinner North’s parent organization. We are a parent action team with a mission: to build an active community of parents who support Skinner North students, teachers, and staff throughout the year.

“We Work to Fuel the Academic, Social, and Financial Growth of our School.”

What FoSN Does:

STARRY NIGHT

Starry Night is a fundraising gala hosted by Friends of Skinner North (FoSN) and the biggest party of the year! This adults-only gala will include food, drinks, dancing, great music, and an auction. Feeling lucky? You can double down and win big for our students! Unfamiliar? Test out your beginner’s luck and roll the dice! Starry Night raises funds for new and ongoing projects to benefit students of Skinner North.

BRIDGE THE GAP

The gap between the Chicago Public Schools budget and Skinner North’s needs grows each year. Friends of Skinner North (FoSN) helps bridge this gap by purchasing supplies, equipment, software, curriculum, teacher professional development, facilities improvements and other items that our students and teachers need every day.

Walk-a-thon

The Walk-A-Thon & Fitness Challenge is our fun and healthy student fundraiser that helps

fund school expenses not covered by the CPS budget through Community, Fun, & Wellness.

What FoSN has helped with recently:

  1. Our kindergarteners were able to attend a field trip to Chicka Boom Boom at the Studebaker theater.
  2.  We subsidized the cost of 8th grade class’ sweatshirts (designed by a Skinner North 8th grader!).
  3. We sponsored cross country meets that allows all 50 of our 5th-8th grade student athletes more opportunities to participate and compete.
  4. We are subsidizing costs for our incredibly talented Chess team to participate in a national chess tournament.
  5.  We provided Lego robotics kits.
  6.  We helped Nurse Tara restock supplies to ensure our entire student body has access to basic and necessary items.
  7. We hosted our annual Fall Fest where we welcomed families throughout our community with a face painter, balloon artist and games!
  8.  Gym is FINALLY getting repainted!
  9.  Through our Wellness committee, we hosted Christine Wulbecker, LSCW, for a parental wellness workshop.
  10. Through the diverse needs committee, we hosted the YWCA of Evanston / North Shore’s Equity Institute for a staff and community bystander intervention training.
